10 Easy Crochet Summer Top Patterns
Summer is here and for some, this can be a tough time to crochet. But, we never want to stop! Crochet tops can be quite intimidating, especially for the beginner. Some of my first crochet projects were bralettes and I found it tough to find true beginner friendly tutorials out there. So, I’ve done the research for you and found some of the best beginner friendly crochet tops, perfect for summer. And a lot of these are size-inclusive and great for plus size!

Firstly, I want to start with one of my favourites. I have a bigger chest and I always find it difficult to find crochet bralettes that fit AND look cute! Morale Fibre has created such a great pattern for this! Perfect for the beach, with a pair of jeans, or a festival. This top used mostly double crochets for it’s the perfect option for beginners! This tutorial is in written form, so you will need some basic pattern reading knowledge to make this top.
Now, this top may look intimidating, especially if you are a beginner. But, I have great news! This top has a FULL break-down video on YouTube! She leaves lots of room for customization and will shockingly hold the girls in place. There is no free written pattern but if your Ok with watching a video than this is a great option for a beginner!
This might possibly be the perfect top for a festival goer! This top also has a bit of a witchy feel when done in black. This pattern has super easy to follow written instructions from sizes XS-5X. This is a SUPER trendy design! And the best part: there are written instructions AND a video tutorial. Perfect for beginners and only uses a few easy stitches. It’s completely size inclusive and full coverage for people with bigger chests. She really breaks down how to measure yourself, which gives so much room for customization. I love the retro feel of this design!
A super simple and classic design that is perfect for layering. This design can be done in different fibres which can make it great for a fall/winter piece as well. Maya has very easily followed step by step instructions and video tutorials too. This is a great beginner top!
This is a simple and classic shape that is great for summer. This is a written pattern thats ranges from Xs-5x. It uses a super easy small V with Sc that creates a great texture. This pattern is well written with lots of pictures.
This is a made to measure design by me! I love the texture of this top. It uses a Shell Stitch variation with a 2 row repeat. Super great for beginners and a customizable length. This is such a great summer top that can be worn on its own or on top of a dress or your favourite shirt!
I really wanted to include some full coverage tops in this list as well. It’s important for me to showcase items that will be perfect for everyone. I love that the Bayswater top is perfect for around the campfire, on colder nights, or for running to the super market! This is a written pattern ranging from size Xs-5x. It does have a lot of stitches but I figure an ambitious beginner can work it out no problem!
This is another simple shape that is perfect for beginners, I still love this tops versatility. You can effortlessly convert from a square neck top to a bow detail to a sweetheart neckline and the best thing is that all of your options are easily undone. This crop top pattern is available in 19 sizes – so everyone can get the perfect fit!

And last but certainly not least: We have this lovely top by Knit Cro Addict. This is simple yet elegant. And want to know the best part? It can also be a dress! . It’s available in both video and written form so it’s perfect no matter where you are on your crochet journey!
